Celebrating a good life and good health by some active contribution to those who are in situations that are more challenging seems proper. I have never gone back to any hospital after I was born. No bones have broken in my body. My current health is excellent. In gratitude for this incredible good fortune, I find it appropriate to help to make life happier for kids who have a more challenging life. There are two areas that I choose to concentrate on. Both give me immense adrenaline rushes.

One area is my support for raising Guide Dogs for blind youth in Alberta. June 18, 2011 will be the fifth year of this exiting fundraiser. I have experienced the excitement of being the passenger in my own race car, with Ryan Kucy, who is blind, as the driver. He is also rather deaf, so that adds to the challenge.

The great hospitality of Gladys and Rory Kucy, Ryan's parents, has led me to better understand the enormous difference one of these $50,000 dogs mean to blind youth. As my very modest part in helping to raise one more dog for some to me unknown blind youth, I set up the Edmonton Blind Race website http://www.EdmontonBlindRace.com  The race will be on June 18, 2011, at the early race evening start at 5:00 PM at Edmonton International Raceway.  http://www.EdmontonRaceway.com

In practice we have managed to get up to 90 kmh, in front of Global TV News cameras on the mere 1/4 mile track.

The other major effort I take part in is about children who otherwise would have little or no prospect of getting to experience the excitement of Summer Camp. I am part of the Easter Seals campaign to fund Summer Camp stays for children who are either disabled, or otherwise institutionalized. My part in this is focused on rappelling down the north wall of Sutton Place Hotel on September 7, 2010, at 11:15. The hotel is 27 stores high, or 270 feet. Corner of 101 A Avenue and 101 Street. The fundraising part for $2,000 to do this is high. The mental conflict at the edge of the roof is immense. For details, check my Easter Seals front page, and I encourage You to make a generous contribution for this excellent Cause:
